Is there something I'm missing? I don't really get it...

Yeah, I know what Dragon's Crown is, I know how hyper sexualized everything is in that game, but I'm not really seeing how this is funny. Who is Benjamin? Why is his mom like that? Were we to expect his mom to suddenly beat him up? Was beating him up funny? It's sorta like I need to know who Benjamin is and who his Mom is to get the joke, but I don't.

It's well animated, but it's really not that funny.

As a game, this is awful. In every sense of the definition.

As a story? Still terrible. Based on a true story, I'm sure, and you have my condolences, however the story could have been told in a way that wasn't so drab and simple. There's no sort of mystery at all with this game, and you even make an attempt at "symbolism" in the form of very clear items that are left behind when you visit the holes. "Oh, a Christmas Tree right after we learned his parents died? Gee, I wonder what that means".

I do like the atmosphere though. It really feels heavy, and it fits well with this story. It's a heavy burden of a plot, and it has an inevitable and obvious end to it, yet it still doesn't make it any less tense. It was well executed on that part, but on every other aspect, such as actually telling a story and being a game, it fails utterly and completely.
